LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Firefighters say a home in PRP was heavily damaged by fire overnight.
The call went out just after 3 a.m. to a two story home in the 7100 block of Textile Avenue.
Firefighters say the fire started in the back of the house, then spread to the second floor. They credit working smoke detectors for alerting everyone inside so they could get out safely.
"Everyone was out," said Assistant Chief Eric Duffy with the PRP Fire Department. "Apparently the smoke alarms detected when the smoke hit. They were out when the first companies arrived."
One person was taken to the hospital to be treated for what firefighters call mild smoke inhalation.
No word on how the fire started, but crews say there damage on the first and second floors.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
