Metro police looking for shooter on a scooter

LOUISVILLE (WAVE) - Police say the suspect in a late night shooting got away on a motor scooter.

Shortly before 11 o'clock Monday night, dispatchers say they got a call to the parking lot of the Chicken King restaurant at the corner of S. Clay and Broadway. Officers arrived just minutes after the call, and found the victim on the ground with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

Witnesses told investigators another man came up to the victim, pulled a gun and shot him, then hopped on a motor scooter and headed southbound on Clay Street.

Police say they don't know if the motive for the shooting was drugs or money, or if it was something more personal.

An ambulance took the victim to University Hospital. He is expected to survive.

Police ask anyone with information about this shooting to call the anonymous crime tipline at 574-LMPD.
