Lightning Ladies to Host Tryouts for 2011-12 Season

LOUISVILLE  (July 21, 2011) – Tryouts for the 2011-12 Louisville Lightning Ladies Dance team will be held on Saturday, July 30, and Saturday, August 6, at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex. The team is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, young females to practice each week and perform during every home game during the season for Louisville Lightning professional indoor soccer team.

Registration for both days will go from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM. The tryout will last until 2:00 PM. All potential dancers must be at least 18 years old with a minimum 1-2 years of dance/cheer experience. Applications and tryout waivers can be found online at www.louisvillelightning.com/ladies, and should be turned in along with a non-refundable $25 tryout fee and a recent head/full body shot taken as recently as possible.

Each potential dancer will be given a 30-second tryout routine to be performed twice in groups of 2-3. No personal routines are required or expected. Final decisions will be made by the judges and posted August 7. Selected dancers are required to attend weekly workout sessions, practices, and every Lightning home game.

Head choreographers Chelsea Nester and April Curtsinger will be judging the tryouts. Both have been with the Lightning Ladies since the inaugural 2009-10 season. Chelsea previously worked with the Louisville Fire Wildfires and the Louisville Lady Saints, where she worked on choreography with April. April also danced for the DuPont Manual Dazzlers team, where she won NDA National Championship titles in 2004, 2006, and 2007.

"I am very excited about the potential for our third season as a dance team," said Chelsea. "We have hosted workshops to help many local dancers prepare for the tryouts and we will definitely have some very talented girls involved!"

The official schedule for the Louisville Lightning professional indoor soccer team will be released in early fall. Regular season games begin November 4, and run through early March.
