CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A grieving North College Hill family is preparing to bury their 18-year-old son Saturday. Everette Howard Junior died Saturday afternoon after he was tased by a University of Cincinnati Police officer. Howard had been staying at UC to take part in a pre-college summer program called Upward Bound.

According to police reports obtained by FOX19, it all started off with a dispute over a hat earlier in the afternoon.

Police were later called back out to what officers described as a large fight between two groups.

In that group was Everette Howard Jr., a recent Honors Graduate of North College Hill High School.

An initial autopsy came back inconclusive and investigators are now waiting on toxicology results to determine the cause of death.

The preliminary investigation into the incident by University of Cincinnati police has since been passed off to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal identification and investigation.

UC Police reports of the incident do not include the first-hand account from the officer who deployed the taser. The initial review did not find any wrongdoing on the part of the officer.

Police reports show Saturday was not the first time Howard had been tased. North College Hill Police documents show he had been tased in January of 2009 while at school.

According to witness reports included in the documents, Howard had been attempting to drop weight for the wrestling team and became sick at school. After becoming disoriented, EMS and police were called in. When police were unable to restrain him they deployed a taser. Police accounts state only one taser hit Howard in the torso, the other was logged in his belt.
