A grieving North College Hill family is preparing to bury their 18-year-old son Saturday. Everette Howard Junior died Saturday afternoon after he was tased by a University of Cincinnati Police officer. Howard had been staying at UC to take part in a pre-college summer program called Upward Bound.
According to police reports obtained by Fox19, it all started off with a dispute over a hat earlier in the afternoon.
According to witness reports included in the documents, Howard had been attempting to drop weight for the wrestling team and became sick at school. After becoming disoriented, EMS and police were called in. When police were unable to restrain him they deployed a taser. Police accounts state only one taser hit Howard in the torso, the other was logged in his belt.
