Severe Weather in Kentuckiana causes damage and power outages

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Severe weather plowed through Kentuckiana Saturday evening leaving behind downed trees, power lines, and other damage. Winds through the area were estimated at 70 miles per hour.

Several thousand LG & E customers are without power. According to LG & E's power outage map, more than 705 outages in Jefferson County, affecting more than more than 105,000 customers.

Metrosafe dispatchers tell WAVE 3 that power lines are also down near I-64 and Blankenbaker Parkway, I-64 is shut down in both directions. Dispatchers say the wires fell across all lanes of the highway.

Duke Energy is also reporting thousands of power outages in Indiana.  According to their website in Clark County there are more than 10,000 customers without power and in Floyd County there are more than 14,000.
