LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Storms ripped through Kentuckiana this weekend canceling the first day of school for JCPS and knocking out power to thousands of people. For some, it's day 3 with no electricity.
The intense storm that blew through on Saturday packed wind speeds of nearly 70 miles per hour. As of Monday afternoon about 30,000 LG&E customers are still without power in Jefferson County. That is down from a peak of more than 128,000 Saturday night.
Duke Energy is reporting about 1,500 customers without electricity, mainly in Clark and Floyd counties.
For some in the Lyndon area on Woodcroft Road, they've been without of electricity before during the ice and wind storm.
LG&E tells us they hope to have majority of people back on Monday and Tuesday, with the remaining hopefully by Wednesday. The problem they are facing is the damage and repair is so widespread. Duke Engery hopes to have most of their customers back up late Monday night.
