FTC approves hospital merger

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The merger of three Kentucky hospital systems is a step closer to reality.

A spokesperson for UofL Hospital said the Federal Trade Commission did not raise objections during the 30 day waiting period which means merger has passed the FTC's approval.

However, UofL said it is just one of several milestones. The state and Catholic Church still have to sign off on it.

UofL Hospital, Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Healthcare, and St. Joseph Health System say teaming up would improve care to Kentuckians.
