LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - In honor of 9/11, volunteers from across the country, including right here in Kentuckiana, took time to give back to those who give so much day in and day out.
Service for Peace, along with volunteers from Home Depot, worked on landscaping and other home improvements at five firehouses around Louisville and Indiana as part of the third annual National Day of Service.
The volunteers working at the LFD firehouse on East Jefferson Street also donated a mower and a grill.
"It's the right thing to do with 9/11 being so important to our history," said volunteer Kevin Zanewicz, "It's the right thing to do to support them for all the losses they suffered on 9/11."
This is the second year Home Depot teamed up with Service for Peace for the event. Next year they hope to work on even more fire houses and police departments.
