Taylorsville man indicted in LMPD officer's death

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Nearly a year after a Louisville Metro Police Officer was killed while on a bike ride, a Spencer County Grand Jury has indicted a man on a manslaughter charge.

Kentucky State Police say 38-year-old Daryl Fogel of Taylorsville, KY. Fogel is facing a 2nd degree manslaughter charge and is expected to appear in court October 6, 2011.

Police say Fogel was driving the vehicle that hit and killed Officer Paul Pegram on September 30, 2010. Pegram was riding his bicycle on KY 248 East of Taylorsville. Pegram died after the injuries he sustained during the accident.

Kentucky State Police Collision Reconstruction Team headed up the investigation and presented their findings to a Spencer County Grand Jury on September 7, 2011. The Spencer County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Fogel with Manslaughter 2nd Degree.

Manslaughter 2nd Degree is a Class C Felony punishable by 5-10 years in prison.
