Possible E. coli contamination prompts ground beef recall

NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - Tyson Fresh Meats is recalling more than 131,000 pounds of ground beef that might be contaminated with E. coli.

A family from the Cincinnati area got sick, and investigators found E. coli in ground beef found in the home.

Kroger-brand ground beef, Butcher's Brand beef and generic label beef, which were all produced August 23, are the brands that are being recalled. The hamburger has a use or freeze by date of September 12.

The Kroger beef was distributed in Tennessee and Indiana; the butcher's beef in North and South Carolina and the generic beef in Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
