LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It was a shocking loss to a Louisville family when a Metro police officer went for a run on September 14 but died from an undetected heart problem before he could make it home. He was a husband and father of four. Now a family friend of that officer is doing what she can to help his wife and children.

In today's world, we hear of unspeakable things that people do to one another every day.  But it's a good deed one woman is striving for as she pushes to make a difference for that family who lost so much. She's hoping maybe you can help.

"She has four little kids. They don't have their dad anymore, explained Angela Gonzalez with tears in her eyes. "She doesn't have her husband anymore. Where are they going to get money for this? Money for that?"

It's a problem Angela, a stylist at Starz Spa and Hair Salon, hopes to help ease for the family of fallen LMPD officer Brad Kincaid.

"Every month I'm donating two Sunday's to do haircuts," Angela said. "Half the proceeds go directly to her just as his money would go to her from his paycheck. Everybody needs a haircut."

Angela hopes so many people come in that she is able to replace the income that he was bringing in for at least one of his part-time jobs. When Jon Hile, a dad, a firefighter and childhood friend of Kincaid, heard about Angela's plan he did not wait until Sunday for the haircuts.

"I came to help support the family of Brad Kincaid," Jon said proudly.

"They're just a very humble group of individuals," said Angela. "We just want to love her in every way we possible can."

Angela is calling on the forces of all first responders along with anyone who will listen.

"Officers, EMS, and firefighters, corrections officers. It's just one easy way they can make a donation," she said.

Kincaid was a husband, father, friend, Marine and a police officer. This community will continue to thank him for his service to God and country each day.

Jon sums it up by saying, "He's just one of those rare people that you meet that are absolutely fantastic."

Angela will continue to do the Sunday hair cuttings for a year. You can find Starz Salon and Spa at 1410 Charlestown-New Albany Pike or Road in Jeffersonville. A good landmark to look for when trying to find it is Southeast Christian Church in Indiana. It sits right across the street.
