Louisville's latest homicide victim is the son of a 2009 murder victim

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - WAVE News has learned the victim in Thursday night's shooting in Algonquin Park was the son of a 2009 murder victim.

17-year-old Cody Cantrell was shot and killed around five o'clock yesterday evening. He was shot just blocks away from where his father, David, was killed on Oaks Day two years ago.

We just talked to David's mother, Cody's grandmother, about this cruel twist of fate.

"It is heart breaking especially when it brings back the death of my son as well..his father, so know I'm dealing with two deaths all over again and it is hard," said Sharon Cantrell.

Community activist Chris 2x tells us Cody Cantrell was a student at JCTC.
