Cindy Sullivan's Bird Treat Recipe - Suet Cakes


1 pound lard
1-cup chunky peanut butter
1-cup cornmeal
1-cup oats
1-cup wild birdseed mix
1 cup sunflower seeds

Melt the lard and the peanut butter over low heat. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and pour into a 13 x 9-inch baking dish or into paper lined muffin tins. Chill the mix until it hardens.

When the mixture is hard, cut it into a size to fit your suet feeder. Wrap the remaining pieces in wax paper and store them in the freezer until you are ready to use them.
