RINEYVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police and military divers were back in Hardin County Wednesday searching ponds in Rineyville in connection with the Brent Burke murder case.
Crews expanded their search to different areas near the home where Tracy Burke and her former mother-in-law Karen Comer were murdered in September 2007.
Louisville Metro Police said the U.S. military asked for their assistance and the dive team was down in Rineyville on training.
According to neighbors in the area, police told them they were searching for new evidence in the case.
Burke, a Fort Campbell soldier charged with the double murder, will face the most serious level of military courts. He will be in court this Friday for an Article 32 hearing, which acts as a discovery hearing.
Burke has been tried four times in civilian court. Two never made it to a jury and the other two ended in mistrials.
We contacted Brent Burke's family, but they say they are under a gag order and not allowed to comment. Calls to the families or Tracy Burke and Comer have not yet been returned.
