PROSPECT, KY (WAVE) - People in a Prospect neighborhood who live near where the east end bridge would be built say they are just ready to get on with construction.
The Shadow Wood Neighborhood Association held a meeting Wednesday night at the Harrods Creek Fire Station on U.S. 42. Construction crews will tear down 18 of the 38 properties in that neighborhood to make way for the bridge.
Peter McHugh, the Shadow Wood Neighborhood Association president, said the state has already purchased all but one of those properties. Now the remaining homeowners are just ready for the bridge to be built.
"I think there's a lot of cynicism because this thing has been going on for over 25 years," said McHugh, "and it's a bone of contention with all of us because people have been in limbo for all of those years."
McHugh said the association invited state lawmakers, MSD and construction supervisors to update people who live in the neighborhood on where things stand.
