Victim of Muhammad Ali Blvd. shooting dies; police searching for shooter

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police are still looking for the shooter after a man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon at 29th Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard.

MetroSafe received the call about the shooting at 4:51 p.m. and the first officers on the found the victim in a car. He was taken by Louisville Metro EMS to University Hospital where he died shortly after arrival.  

Police said the victim was in the car with two other people, but those persons are not considered suspects.

"We're trying to retrace the victim's last steps talking with the people who were in the vehicle," said Alicia Smiley, a LMPD spokesperson. "Again, knocking on doors here in the neighborhood, trying to establish a timeline for the victim, where he may have been earlier today, throughout the week."

Police say they do not have any leads in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD Crime Tip Line at 574-LMPD (5673). All calls to the Crime Tip Line are anonymous.

    The mother of two-year-old William Roberts took her eyes off her son for a couple minutes Saturday afternoon, according to police. The toddler disappeared in a creek in Borden, Indiana around 230 p.m.
