BLOOMFIELD, KY (WAVE) - A crash Monday afternoon in rural Nelson County has killed a teenager and sent two other teens to the hospital.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff's Office, 17-year-old Megan Sallee, of Bloomfield, was driving east in the 1300 block of Old Bloomfield Road when lost control of her vehicle going off the edge of the roadway. She then overcorrected, crossed the westbound lane and went off the roadway again causing the vehicle to flip several times.

Police say Megan Sallee was wearing her seat belt and was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

Police say 15-year-old Orville Justin Case, from Bloomfield, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. Case was flown to Kosair Children's Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

The Nelson County Coroner says 14-year-old McKayla Sallee, from Bloomfield, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say alcohol is not suspected in the crash that occurred at approximately 3:30 yesterday. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Nelson County Sheriff's Office. They are investigating if speed played a role in the crash.

Grief counselors are on hand for students at Nelson County High School where the three students attend school.
