LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A two-year-old child swallows a push pin and dies after the coroner says his airway was blocked. Jacorey Davis was found unresponsive at his daycare, Monday afternoon.

Jessica Davis said she dropped off Jacorey at Trina's Treehouse, a child care center owned by her cousin at 32nd and Broadway in Louisville. Around 1:45 p.m. she got a phone call that Jacorey had a seizure and was rushed to Kosair Children's Hospital.

"They were trying to pump him, trying to get him back to life," said Davis. "It was nothing they could do."

The coroner's office says 45 minutes after he went unresponsive, Jacorey was pronounced dead.

"We thought it was natural and now to know that he actually suffered, it's just unbelievable," said Patricia Scott, victim's great aunt.

It wasn't until Tuesday that the family found out Jacorey had swallowed a push pin. Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jim Wesley said the toddler died after it blocked his airway. Now Wesley said the question is did Jacorey swallow the push pin at the daycare or was it somewhere else?

"Something don't add up and it's just two stories have been told and something's not right," said Davis.

Despite being under the care of her cousin, Davis believes it had to have happened at Trina's Treehouse.

"I'm not trying to do this to upset Trina or anything, but I want closure for me because that was my son," said Davis.

"Family or not, somebody has got to be held accountable for Jacorey," said Scott.

WAVE 3 tried multiple times to speak with someone at Trina's Treehouse, but they would not talk to us.

The Louisville Metro Police Department is conducting a death investigation, but a spokesperson said they do not suspect foul play.
