LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Although a Louisville company has been awarded the contract to repair the Sherman Minton Bridge that spans from New Albany to Louisville, the work to repair the bridge hasn't started yet.
On Tuesday, the State of Indiana said Hall Contracting was the winning bidder for the repair work. The company has 135 days to finish repairs, but they weren't out there working on Wednesday. Hall said that is because they are busy finishing purchase orders right now for materials.
Hall said it is committed to the 135 day time frame to get the job done. There are also a lot of subcontractors that have to agree on the days they can be there to work on the bridge.
While it looks a little quiet on the Sherman Minton now, a Hall Contracting spokesperson said that March 2 is still the target date for traffic to start moving again, but they could beat that date by a few days.
