Police increase patrols after crimes near 4th Street Live

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE)- Louisville Metro Police have increased patrols in the area near Fourth Street Live, after 3 apparently unrelated attacks in the area.

Surveillance photos from September 29th show two men police are looking for. The surveillance photos look outside of a parking garage near 4th Street Live! A woman said purse-snatchers hit her in the face. In one of the photos, a man appears to attack someone.

"It's just outrageous that somebody would have the gal to attack someone in the broad daylight down here," Said Larry Jones, an attorney who works downtown, close to Fourth Street Live! "I hope that these guys are caught and that justice is served."

On October 7th, police said Hassan Knight was arrested after he got out of control while he was eating in the 4th Street Live food court and assaulted three people.

"It makes me very concerned. Like I said, we've always been kind of cognizant of that we're downtown and we're an office of women," Said Stephanie Kinney, who works downtown near 4th Street Live! And eats in the food court occasionally. "So, we always try to...we use the buddy system if we leave late at night, somebody goes with them."

On Monday, police said a woman on her way to work was robbed and her car taken at Fifth Street and Muhammad Ali Blvd.

"I think they're rare. I walk around and I've never had any problems. I park on the streets. I haven't had any issues or security problems. Honestly, I think downtown is really safe." Said Stacey Servo, who lives and works downtown.

Kinney said she was going to be more aware of her surroundings.

"Yeah, I'm going to try to I guess, just be more alert of the people that are around me when I go to lunch, when I come to work and when I leave," She said.

LMPD said they do have possible leads in the robbery cases. Police have also increased patrols in the area.
