ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - An Indian company is about to open its first-ever plant in the U.S., and it's coming to Elizabethtown.
The company is called "Flex Film," and in its first phase, it will be looking 125 people to get to work in its manufacturing plant.
Friday, many people took part in the traditional Indian Ground Blessing Ceremony. Flex Film leaders and Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear took part in it today to kick off phase one of the company's move into the U.S.
"While I can't say for sure that this is the first time that a boomy pooshim ceremony has been performed for a business on Kentucky soil, I can certainly say that I don't want it to be the last one," Governor Beshear said.
The Governor also says he made two trips to India to help bring Flex Film to E-town, and adds the company chose Hardin County over several other U.S. locations.
Company officials say the E-town plant will be up and running with phase one by the end of next year. Phase two will start after that and double the amount of jobs to 250.
Flex Film makes plastic films for things like packaging, printing and electrical use.
