JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A murder investigation continues in Jeffersonville at the Lafayette Square Apartments in the 1500 block of East 10th Street. Police say a woman was found stabbed Sunday afternoon, after a fight with her estranged husband.

Police say the female victim, later identified as 30-year-old Kelly Bagshaw, was visiting 46-year-old Edward Dale Bagshaw at the apartment, and was in the process of picking up their children, when a domestic dispute quickly escalated.

Neighbors tell WAVE 3 that a short time later, the woman ran out of the apartment, got into her car, and fell out of the car. At least one resident called 911 and say that as police arrived on the scene, she was found laying in a pool of her own blood in the parking lot.

"It's really shocking I mean I haven't lived here very long, maybe a year and half or so and I haven't seen anything like this," said resident Gaderian Heald.

"Her throat was cut and she was just gushing blood out of there and her whole shirt was covered," said Ryan Downing.

Neighbors say what's also disturbing about all of this is who was watching out of the apartment window as everything happened.

"When I came out, that was the worst thing:  the little kid was standing up in the window looking down and of course she had to see what had happened," said neighbor Ronnie Downing.

Neighbors say the couple's two young kids saw it all.

"To do that in front of children... there was more to this story than this. Something had to make a person do that. It's pretty upsetting," Downing said.

Investigators took Edward in for questioning, and later charged him preliminarily with murder. He is being held without bond.

Kelly's white Toyota was pulled away from the apartment complex about an hour after the altercation took place; police say that will be used to collect evidence.

While the investigation continues, police so far believe that it started out as a domestic dispute and ended with the stabbing. Police are not releasing where the victim was stabbed or how many times.

Edward is expected in court Monday. He is behind held without bond. The couple's children are in the custody of child protective services.
