LOUISVILLE (WAVE) - LMPD is investigating the death of infant, after officers shut down Broadway for 40 blocks late Tuesday night to rush the baby to the hospital.
Dispatchers got a 911 call at 11:22 p.m. that a child was unresponsive in an apartment in the 600 block of Lindell Ave.
Officers arrived just four minutes later, and worked to resuscitate the child until EMS crews got to the scene.
Because the baby was so small, and paramedics deemed the child's life was in danger, LMPD units shut down 40 blocks of Broadway to drivers so the ambulance would have a clear road to Kosair Children's Hospital. The baby died at the hospital.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office and LMPD Homicide Unit are now investigating.
