CORYDON, IN (WAVE) – For years he could be seen photographing kids at sporting events all over southern Indiana. The Harrison County Prosecutor says Stephen Brockman, a freelance photographer, had pornographic imagines involving children on his laptop computer. He was booked into the county jail Tuesday afternoon.

"We have a guy who has access and who photographs children and then here we find hundreds of photos that are illegal and it's just disgusting," said J. Otto Schalk, Harrison County Prosecutor.

Schalk said if you've had kids involved in sports in Harrison, Floyd, Crawford, or Washington County, there's a good chance Brockman has taken their photo.

"The concerning thing for us is Mr. Brockman is a fairly well known photographer around here who does freelance work for a variety of the newspapers in the Tri county area," said Schalk.

Brockman was arrested Tuesday afternoon in his home in Greenville because of what police discovered on his computer last month. Schalk said Brockman was in the Corydon McDonald's using his laptop around 3 a.m. on November 14 when he fell asleep.

"One of the officers saw what they thought was child pornography on his computer another officer who was there verified that as well," said Schalk.

That discovery led to a search warrant and investigators were able to obtain Brockman's laptop where Schalk said hundreds of disturbing photos were found.

"They're girls ranging from 2 years of age to 13, all sexually suggestive and genitals exposed," said Schalk.

Prosecutors picked nine photos to move forward with charges.

"Of the nine photos that we have charged him with there is no indication that he has personally taken those photos," said Schalk.

Brockman confirmed that after he bonded out of jail. He didn't have much to say, but did offer an apology.

"I'm sorry I disappointed everybody, but it had nothing to do with them," said Brockman.

Prosecutors say Brockman will have his initial court appearance next week.
