NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) – Police in southern Indiana are investigating the death of a 24-year-old Clark County man who was struck and killed by a car Tuesday afternoon while crossing the street.
According to Senior Trooper David Scott of the Indiana State Police, the accident was reported at 3:54 p.m. at Grant Line Road and Jolissaint Avenue. Scott said David Brewer of Clarksville was walking across Grant Line north of the intersection with Jolissaint when he was hit by a car heading north on Grant Line driven by 18-yuear-old Ryan Browning of Georgetown, IN.
Scott said Browning's vehicle had swerved around a car making a turn and hit Brewer when it came back into its original lane.
Brewer was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he died from his injuries. Scott said Browning was taken to a hospital so blood work could be drawn, a standard procedure in fatality crashes. According to Scott, the results of the blood tests could take up to six weeks.
Grant Line Road was closed for approximately two hours while police conducted their investigation.
