Woman arrested after fire leads to pot discovery, child suffers burns

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A 12-year-old is in critical condition after a fire in the Buechel area which led to the discovery of an indoor marijuana growing operation.

The fire broke out late Monday night on Glenworth Avenue off Bardstown Road. When firefighters arrived they found the in the street on fire.

Inside the home investigators found what they believe to be a marijuana growing operation. Metro police were called and say they found 17 pot plants, some of which were six feet tall.

They also found equipment used to grow and cultivate marijuana, including lights, rolling papers, a pipe, several bundles of pot drying and other items.

Police arrested Gerri Greer with several drug charges.

The arrest report states the home was within 1,000 feet of Buechel Metropolitan High School.
