John Boel

John Boel loves Packers football, ice fishing and telling a good story.

He was born in Beloit, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in 1984 with a degree in journalism.

John joined WAVE 3 in January 2012 after a quarter-century of anchoring and reporting the news in Green Bay, Rockford and Louisville. Over the course of his career he has received 70 Emmy awards, including six for Best Anchor. John's other journalism achievements include 39 Associated Press Awards, nine Edward R. Murrow awards and two Eclipse Awards.

When he is not spending time with his wife Brenda and their two daughters, Kelsey and Brianna, John is probably fishing or training. He has finished more than a dozen marathons and six Ironman triathlons.

John anchors WAVE 3 News Sunrise weekdays from 4:30 to 7 a.m. He also investigates a wide-range of stories throughout Kentuckiana.
