LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The man accused of gunning down a popular Louisville hip-hop dancer took the stand in his own defense.

Kenneth Brown is accused of shooting death of 28-year-old Lashaun Talbert on August 18, 2010 during what Louisville Metro Police was a drug deal on Clay Avenue in Okolona.

On the witness stand Friday, Brown testified that he was acting self-defense after a gun was pulled on him first.

Brown: "Instead of him going straight, he turns right down Preston. So I said, ‘hey, where you going? The store's right here.' They ignore me. So, there's businesses on the right – I think the first things we passed was a small car lot. I said, ‘ok, pull over right here.'  They ignore me. So we're coming up to another business. I can see the top of Tico's head. I said, ‘pull over right here.' The ignore me."

Attorney: "What were you thinking at that point?"

Brown: "Now, now I'm starting to get worried. Now my heart's starting to race."

Attorney: "Ok. Then what happens?"

Brown:  "So at that point, this is when Talbort pulls out the gun and he turns around like this and said ‘sit back playboy.'"

Talbert died three days later at University Hospital from gunshot wounds.

David Curd, another person in the vehicle, pled guilty to manslaughter in July 2010 for Talbert's death.
