RINEYVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Investigators were on the scene of a deadly house fire in Rineyville, KY early Monday morning.
Two people died in the fire on Long Hollow Road in the Hardin County community.
According to a woman on the scene of the fire, her mother and her mother's boyfriend lived in the home. The woman said everything was fine when she visited late Sunday night.
Neighbors said they knew something was wrong at the house around 6 a.m. on Monday.
"These sirens woke me up," said Randall McCoy. "I looked out the door and seen the blaze. I thought it was the house next door."
By the time firefighters arrived, it was too late. It took hours to put out the flames.
"Anytime wind introduces oxygen into the scene it makes it hectic, tough on our staff here on scene, as well," said deputy fire marshal Chris Crawford.
Firefighter knew early on that one person had died. Around 9 a.m. when they were finally able to get to the body, they found a second body.
"It's a big loss," said McCoy. "It's a shame that they're both deceased. It puts a family behind and a big loss."
The victims' identities have not been released, and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
