ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – Two Hardin County educators thought they were honoring a teacher serving in Kuwait, but found out they were the ones on the receiving end.
Hardin County Superintendent Nanette Johnson and Principal Jennifer Lewis were surprised Wednesday with ‘Patriot Awards' to thank them for the support they have shown to students while Meyer has been gone. The award was presented over Skype by Lieutenant Colonel Andrea Meyer who is serving with an Army Reserve Unit in Kuwait.
The school started 400 Days of Service to help students cope while Meyer is gone. Lewis said, "We've done all kinds of things, we've done things for soldiers, we've redone our flag area as a tribute to the military and with Andrea and with the military families we have here at Lincoln Trail."
Lt. Colonel Meyer was called up for duty in the fall.
