Clinic gives big check to Blessings in a Backpack

CHARLESTOWN, IN (WAVE) – Blessings came in the form of backpacks and big checks in Clark County Thursday.

Davita Dialysis donated a check in the amount of $7 thousand to Blessings in a Backpack at Jonathon Jennings Elementary School.

Each clinic in Jefferson, New Albany, Scottsburg and Salem Indiana came together to present the check.

Blessings in a Backpack provides students who live in low income homes a back pack filled with non-perishable food to take home for the weekend. This helps ensure students will get an adequate meal when they are not in school.

Linda Hill with Davita Dialysis said, "In a time of the economy where we're at right now a lot of families are struggling just to be able to provide food for their children."

Davita Dialysis called their charitable giving initiative "the Davita way of giving."
