Congressman Yarmuth donates his salary to charity

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Third district Congressman John Yarmuth will once again donate his congressional salary to local charities.

25 Louisville area non-profits will share this year's donation. Including The Home of the Innocents, The United Way, Youth Build, and Volunteers of America.

This is the fifth year in a row that Yarmuth has made the donation.

Congressman Yarmuth first made the pledge to donate his yearly salary when he ran for the seat in 2006. Since his first election he has donated more than $600,000 to local charities.
