Bellarmine's Kendle Named GLVC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Bellarmine University junior guard Jeremy Kendle (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. 

Kendle led the top-ranked Knights to a pair of top-10 wins this past week, averaging 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.  His efforts helped solidify BU's No. 1 ranking with a 67-53 win over No. 8 Southern Indiana on Thursday and an 80-68 victory at No. 7 Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday.

At home on Thursday, Kendle connected on 6-of-11 shots against the defensive-minded Screaming Eagles and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Knights.  In Owensboro on Saturday, Kendle logged all 40 minutes of action and was near perfect, connecting on 10-of-14 (.714) shooting, including 4-of-7 (.571) from beyond the arc for a game-high 28 points.  He also hauled in five boards and dished a team-high four assists while committing just one turnover.

Kendle also reached a personal milestone last week, becoming just the 11th player in school history to surpass 1,500 points in a career.  He currently stands at 1,522 points.

This is the second weekly honor for Kendle this season, having also earned the league's first honor of the season on Nov. 14, 2011.  Kendle has guided the Knights to an 18-1 record overall, including a 10-1 mark in the GLVC East Division.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury's Alex Hall, Illinois-Springfield's Michael Fakuake, Indianapolis' Adrian Moss, Kentucky Wesleyan's Anthony Young, Lewis' Chris McClellan, Missouri S&T's Michael Jackson, Quincy's Justin Brock, and UW-Parkside's Jeremy Saffold.
