Taxi drivers arrested on drug charges

NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - Four employees of a New Albany-based taxi cab company have been arrested on drug charges, according to a New Albany Police Department news release.

Eric C. Leroy, 38, and Jennifer M. Angelini, 31, were arrested at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after a search warrant was executed at their residence in the 1100 block of Ekin Avenue. Angelini was arrested at the residence and Leroy while on the job at Checker Cab Co., where both work as dispatchers.

They were charged with class C felony dealing marijuana and class D felonies unlawful possession of a Legend Drug, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.

The NAPD's FLEX unit obtained more information that led to the arrest of two more cab company employees in the 2100 block of East Spring Street in New Albany at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Thomas C. Emery, 30, a cab driver from Clarksville, and Travis W. Sample, 30, a newly employed driver-in-training from Jeffersonville, were inside a company vehicle when arrested. The vehicle was impounded by police officers at the scene.

Emery was preliminarily charged with possession and dealing a controlled substance, both felonies, and misdemeanor marijuana possession. Sample is preliminarily charged with felony dealing a controlled substance.
