Driver hurt in school bus accident

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Jefferson County School bus #0221 was involved in accident around 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The accident happened in the 500 block of Flat Rock Road near Shelbyville Road.

Police say it appears the driver veered off the road then over corrected causing the bus to flip on its side landing near power lines.

It took a few hours to clear the scene, as crews had to figure out the best possible way to get the bus pulled up and avoid striking low power lines.

JCPS says that one student was on the bus -- a male student at Metropolitan High School.

Police say the student was checked out at the scene, and was released to his mother's care.

The female bus driver was taken to the hospital complaining of back pain, but is expected to be okay.
