KSP trooper involved in an injury accident

Posted: Updated:

SHELBYVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An off duty Kentucky State trooper was involved in an accident just after 7:00 Monday evening.

Police say the trooper was traveling northbound on the bypass when he neared the intersection of US 60 and KY 55 near Shelbyville. The trooper collided with a white Kia in front of Pure Reflections.

It is believed that the trooper had the right of way and that the driver of the Kia, for some reason, didn't stop, causing the collision.

Police say the trooper suffered minor injuries.

The three people inside the Kia were taken to Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville with serious injuries.

The trooper was off duty and in his personal vehicle at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash still remains under investigation.
