LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) –
There was a lot of "clowning around" at the Kentucky Exposition Center Saturday
as the Kosair Shrine Circus was in full swing.
But, not everyone was
happy with the circus coming to town. Some animal rights activists rallied
against the circus.
PETA is urging the
Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources not to repeal a ban on
elephant rides at the circuses and fairs.
Elephant rides were banned
in Louisville following a 1994 incident in with a man visiting the Louisville
Zoo was picked up and dropped several times by an elephant.
Protestors are urging Louisville
residents to boycott animal abuse. The circus runs through Sunday.
