NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - Business owners across southern Indiana are already planning on how they will celebrate when the Sherman Minton reopens. They met in New Albany Tuesday to discuss how they will welcome everyone back to downtown to shop.
They, along with business owners in Jeffersonville and Clarksville, are planning a celebration on March 2 with special events at stores in the area.
The owner of Jimmy's Music Center says he hopes to do a live music event. James Gaetano says he's lost business since the bridge closed and says he's anxious to get people back in his store. "I think it's great because it's kind of like running a race and it's finally done. Okay, it's over with. Let's kinda celebrate because it's been a lot of work."
They hope to have all the plans for the celebration complete by the last week in February. Develop New Albany says they will put up a website with a list of all the activities.
