NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson says he regrets some of his decisions on the David Camm case.
This week, the Indiana Supreme Court refused to step in and rule on whether Henderson should have been thrown off the case because of a deal to write a book -- so he's out.
In 2000 Kim Camm, and her children Brad and Jill were shot to death in the garage of their Georgetown home.
Former state trooper David Camm has been convicted twice of killing them, but those convictions have been thrown out.
Thursday, Henderson said if he'd have known at the time he signed the deal what he knows now he wouldn't have done it.
But he claims that the focus on the judge, county or prosecutor is a defense strategy and takes the focus away from what it should be.
"It wasn't about Stan and it's not about me," said Henderson. "This case is about a five-year-old girl, who was in her car seat and got a bullet through the head. It's about a seven-year-old boy who got a bullet through the chest as he was trying to get away from that gun and it's about a mother who was trying to protect her two babies who was gunned down in her own garage."
Judge Jon Dartt will appoint a new prosecutor to take over the case.
Henderson says he'll turn over around 40 boxes of evidence.
