New details released about deadly crash that killed 2 Spencer County teens

TAYLORSVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky State Police released new information Thursday night about the crash that killed two teens in Spencer County.

Mikie Monroe and Shelby Bockting were killed and another injured when the pick-up truck they were in overturned several times along Mike Brown Road last month.

According to state police, neither was wearing a seatbelt and were speeding. They say prior to the crash the driver and passengers in the vehicle were smoking marijuana.

Toxicology results show Monroe was also under the influence of prescription medication that was not prescribed to her.
