BARDSTWON, KY (WAVE) – Kentucky State Police have charged a 44-year-old Bardstown man with distribution and possession of child pornography. Richard Keene was arrested Feb. 16.
According to KSP, the arrest of Keene came as part of an ongoing undercover investigation into internet crimes involving children that started in September 2011. State police say the investigation began after detectives found someone sharing images online of child sexual exploitation.
On Feb. 2, a search warrant was served at Keene's home by KSP and Bardstown police. KSP said thousands of images and videos of child pornography were seized, along with the equipment used to distribute them. The images and videos were examined by KSP's forensic lab before Keene was arrested.
Keene is charged 11 counts of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor and 2,000 counts of possession of matter portraying sex performance by a minor. He was booked into the Nelson County jail.
