Baffert and Bejarano sweep Southwest Stakes

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Castaway pulled away on the home stretch to win the $250,000 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

Another Bob Baffert-trained horse, Secret Circle, added to Baffert's big day with a win in the second of the two Grade 3 races.

Castaway won his last time out at Santa Anita Park on Jan. 12. He started from the 11th position, but went out early with Majestic Stride in the Southwest before running away from the field down the stretch.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Castaway paid $15.40, $9.40 and $7.20. Jake Mo paid $19 and $7.40, while Reckless Jerry paid $4.20 to show.

Bejarano also rode Secret Circle, who paid $3.20, $3.20 and 2.40, while Scatman paid $6.40 and $4.60. Third-place finisher Adirondack King paid $3.60 to show.
