Lawmaker refuses to support Girl Scouts

INDIANAPOLIS (WAVE) – An Indiana lawmaker is coming under fire for his stance against the Girl Scouts.

Republican Lawmaker Bob Morris refused to support a resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts.

According to Morris, the Girl Scouts are told to study role models that he considers "feminists, lesbian or communist."

Morris further stated the Girl Scouts have close ties to Planned Parenthood.

Cathey Richey of the Girl Scouts said, "Basically we have no relationship with planned parenthood. Doesn't exist, there is no formal relationship, there is no money that changes hands. We have no relationship and that's the bottom line."

A letter with the head of Planned Parenthood of Indiana condemned Morris' statements and said his comments were "inflammatory, misleading and inaccurate."
