Woman sentenced after stealing $2 pumpkin

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KOB/NBC) - A judge sentenced Lauren Medina, a 22-year-old college student, after she admitted she grabbed a tiny pumpkin from a display at McCall's Pumpkin Patch after attending the haunted house in October.

Medina was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and she has to pay 145 dollars in court costs.

She stole the pumpkin last October but maintains she thought it was free and offered to pay for it when confronted by an officer.

Medina has 15 days to appeal the judge's decision.
