Kentucky passes tougher seatbelt law

FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) – The Kentucky State Senate has passed a tougher seatbelt law.

The new law come nearly two years after 10 people from the same family were killed in a crash along I-65.

The bill now requires seatbelts in vans that carry up to 15 passengers, five passengers more than the former law.

In 2010, a semi crashed through a median in Hart County and struck a passenger van killing the truck driver and 10 people in the van.
