LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Kenton, Carroll and Magoffin Counties were  all three hit by storms Friday.

On Saturday, Governor Steve Beshear toured Kenton County where three people were killed.

A couple in their 70's were killed in their home, along with a 49-year-old man who was driving down US 25 when the storm hit.

An emergency shelter was set up by the Red Cross at the Grant County High School.

Volunteers were asked to stay away from the area until downed power lines and other hazards were taken care of.

Residents in Carroll County are counting their blessings, fortunate that the damage done to their town is only structural, and can be fixed.

The hardest hit area was Carrollton, along KY HWY 42.

Roofs were ripped off, aluminum siding was scattered about and chucks were missing from homes.

There were no deaths, but several injuries were reported in Magoffin County. Homes were destroyed and debris littered the ground.

A catholic church was demolished while people were seeking shelter in the basement.

A McDonald's, a bank and several gas stations were damaged.

Emergency management said they are checking places to make sure no one is trapped in rubble.
