Kentucky counties hit by storms, some luckier than others

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) –Kenton, Carroll and Magoffin Counties were  all three hit by storms Friday.

On Saturday, GovernorSteve Beshear toured Kenton County where three people were killed.

A couple in their 70'swere killed in their home, along with a 49-year-old man who was driving down US25 when the storm hit.

An emergency shelter was setup by the Red Cross at the Grant County High School.

Volunteers were asked tostay away from the area until downed power lines and other hazards were takencare of.

Residents in CarrollCounty are counting their blessings, fortunate that the damage done to theirtown is only structural, and can be fixed.

The hardest hit area wasCarrollton, along KY HWY 42.

Roofs were ripped off, aluminumsiding was scattered about and chucks were missing from homes.

There were no deaths, butseveral injuries were reported in Magoffin County. Homes were destroyed anddebris littered the ground.

A catholic church wasdemolished while people were seeking shelter in the basement.

A McDonald's, a bank andseveral gas stations were damaged.

Emergency management saidthey are checking places to make sure no one is trapped in rubble.
