LOUISVILLE (WAVE) - Police said a woman was shot in an early morning robbery at the Thornton's at S. First Street and Broadway.
Investigators said 1st Division officers responded to reports of shots fired at 5:24 a.m.
When they arrived, officers found a female clerk with a gunshot wound.
Officers said the bullet hit the woman in the leg. She's was transported to University Hospital with what investigators call non-life threatening injuries.
LMPD said a man went into the convenience store with a gun and demanded cash, and as he left the store, he turned and fired once.
Officer Carey Klain said, "It does sound like there were several witnesses in the store in the area and several of those witnesses were very helpful this morning actually to get us some information direction of travel and suspect description."
Police arrested 38-year-old Kawan Farrar at Floyd and Breckenridge. He was charged with robbery and assault.
