Law strengthens ban on synthetic drugs

INDIANAPOLIS (WAVE) – A new Indiana law banning synthetic stimulants, such as bath salts, is also toughening the states prohibition on other drugs that mimic marijuana.

The law went into effect immediately after Governor Mitch Daniels signed it Thursday.

Under the laws new provisions, retailers could lose their business licenses for a year if they are caught selling synthetic drugs.

The license provision would apply in cases in which someone was convicted of selling the drugs as a part of the retail outlets normal business.
