Man admits to 40 Burglaries, could be involved in more, police say

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man was caught in the act, then arrested for 19 other counts of the same crime.  Over the past three years police say 29-year-old Anthony Ramsey, who is supposed to be on home incarceration, admitted to burglarizing 40 other homes since 2010.

He was in court Monday and is Metro Corrections on a $25,000 full cash bond.

According to an arrest slip, Ramsey was caught breaking into a home near Churchill Downs when he admitted his involvement in 40 other burglaries, but police said they are looking at 50 or 60. He is facing 19 counts of burglary as of now.

"Some of the property he was taking was jewelry, computers, laptops, electronics, as well as prescription medications," said LMPD Spokesperson Carey Klain.

One woman who was hit in December asked us to only use her first name, Rhonda.

"Very scary and of course with finding out that they found out who it was, it's really put a relief on me to know that he's been found," said Rhonda.

According to police documents, Ramsey entered through windows and doors to homes in Shively, St. Denis, Iroquois, and Hazelwood.

"Careless. I found jewelry laying on the ground outside of the house," said Rhonda. "So it looked like he ran in, grabbed what he could see right quick, and ran out."

Ramsey has a lengthy criminal background with other charges for drugs, escape, burglary and a persistent felony offender.

He is in Metro Corrections with a $25,000 full cash bond.
