LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Pegasus Pin Madness is still underway and Friday another $500 winner was drawn.
Blake Moutoux was the March 30 winner.
The 2012 Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Pins went on sale March 1 at more than 1,000 retail outlets across Kentuckiana. Each one gives the buyer the opportunity to register for $500 cash prizes given away March 9, 16, 23 and 30. The drawings are shown Fridays during WAVE 3 News at 7 p.m. and rebroadcast the next day on WAVE 3 News Sunrise beginning at 5 a.m.
To be eligible for the drawings, buyers must register their pins online at www.pegasuspins.com. The pins sell for $5 each. Family Fun Packs of 5 pins sell for $18. This year, the Pegasus Pins come in five colors: red, green, orange, teal and purple. They feature a flying Pegasus image over a fleur-de-lis background.
"We're unveiling this year's Pegasus Pins earlier than ever, and we're hoping people will purchase them to show their support of the Kentucky Derby Festival, and to have a ticket for free entry into more than half of the festival's events," said Mike Berry, President and CEO of the Kentucky Derby Festival. "The pins offer tremendous value, including access to 30-plus festival events and concerts, as well as a chance to win one of the weekly $500 cash drawings in March."
Inside each pin envelope is a membership card with a scratch-off bar that hides a unique 12-digit alpha-numeric code. Pin purchasers should use the code to register for the drawing at www.pegasuspins.com. After registering, they will receive two coupons via email confirmation.
Once again, gold instant win pins are in circulation. The odds of finding one of the 10,000 gold pin this year are 1 in 32. Gold pin winners can register to win one of eight grand prizes, including a 2012 Honda CRV at the conclusion of the Derby Festival in May.
